This is even MORE hilarious now that it’s common knowledge that JP is gay. SORRY GIRLS.

My name is Billy. I'm a big fag and a recovering Mormon. I enjoy comic books, punk rock, whiskey and watching movies with no plot.

pt 1:
Wow. Heather Hudson is a total homophobic bitch, seriously. Northstar get’s raped and manipulated and that’s your response?
An excellent entry from the AlphaFlight.net wiki (which exists, btw):

“The Sharks from Beyond Time were enemies of the Tribe of the Moon. They were prehistoric sharks that had the ability to fly. No information on their history has been uncovered. They were defeated by the Tribe of the Moon ten thousand years ago.”

So, Marrina basically grew up in the Canadian version of Alabama?

Despite the sheer ‘what the fuck’ery of Aurora a) actually becoming a nun and b) occasionally fighting in superbattles as a nun, I kind of like her superhero outfit. Because really, fighting crime and flying in a nun’s habit would produce just so many problems (the outfit could easily get caught on something, what if the skirt flares up, etc.).
And here’s your obligatory link to the intro to The Flying Nun (yes, it does exist and yes, it’s as cracktastic as it sounds).

A teaser ad for Alpha Flight #12 — the big question at the time was “Which member of Alpha Flight will die?”
John Byrne’s answer, “Not the Indian or the queer.”
*headdesk*
I don’t care how crazy Aurora can be when she looks this good. That is the shiniest, fullest black mane I have ever seen.
from Alpha Flight #8, by John Byrne
Oh god, Aurora is a crazy bitch. Split personalities can cause some pretty hormonal-esque mood swings. Either that, or don’t accuse your sister of being a slut when you’re a fag, cause homos are obviously gross or something!

[pt 2] At the end of the issue, Raymonde is killed in front of Northstar who was restraining use of his powers to protect his identity.
The narration afterwards is well written by Byrne. It gives us just enough information about their love for each other while throwing in the mutant metaphor to cover things up just enough that any homosexual undertones can be dismissed. Again, for ‘84 this is pretty good stuff.
(side note, I’ve always liked the combo of red and tan)
[pt 1] In Alpha Flight #7 we finally get to some the story points I’ve been waiting for. John Byrne had always intended for Northstar to be gay, but seeing as how this issue came out in 1984 the most he could do was throw hints at the readers.
This issue focuses on twins Northstar and Aurora as they spend some time together in Montreal, meeting up with Raymonde Belmonde. Byrne gives us more than a few hints that these two had a pretty significant, closeted relationship together.
Also worth noting, young Northstar likes old dudes. Totally cool.
The hospital delivery guy/possible drug runner is a babe.

Apparently Edie Falco is Puck’s nurse. That beautiful, talented junkie.

Canadian superhero’s/supermodels. The guys outfits are pretty bold, I must say. Mac’s ass is really on display in those white jeans and I have no idea how Walter got into those khaki’s. But just look at Northstar there on the chair, sinking into the gayest lounge pose of all. What a dreamboat. This is John Byrne at his best.
